Purpose Statement
God’s purpose for St. Paul Lutheran Church is to be transformed so that we are part of God’s transformation of the world…
We believe that the power of the Holy Spirit is meant to change us
Guiding Principles
Father, Son, Holy Spirit: First, Last, Always…
Every question, every program, always gets laid against Christ as witnessed in scripture. The cliché is What Would Jesus Do.
1 Peter 2, Philippians 2, Matt 5
Know, Live, Speak God’s Word…
This is the life of discipleship. Immersed in God’s Word it becomes habit to live it out and in doing so to witness both in word and deed.
Matt 28:19-20, Col 1:1-12
Love others as Christ loves us…
We have been saved by grace. We pay that gift forward by sharing from our abundance.
John 13:34, Luke 10:25-42, Eph 5:1-2
Unite together; celebrate and embrace diversity…
Like the early church we are called to gather together for worship, study, and fellowship. We are called to welcome those who are not like us. Samaritans, Romans, Lepers, Gentiles, etc.
John 4, Acts 10, Acts 2. Gal 2:1-10
Move forward, rooted in our Lutheran identity…
Lutherans history goes through the Reformation to Christ and to Abraham. We ought to be proud, not be stuck in that past. Rooted for growth and new life. Reformata et semper reformanda.
Phil 3:10-16, Hosea 14, Acts 2
…w/o hesitation.
God’s order for Peter to go into new mission with the Gentiles without hesitation echoes God’s urgency for us.
Acts 10, Matt 8:21-22, Luke 9:61-62
